Chubby cherub angels

Forever immortalized on the Sistine Chapel walls

Painted by Raphael, resting and

Looking up toward the heavens

Or at Michelangelo's great ceiling fresco; is that 

What they view?

Sweet faced and lovely

Perhaps waiting for their

Assignment from God, to

Ease the pain of one so heartbroken

Or perhaps to sling love's arrow

At an ever waiting heart?

We will never know, but

Their beauty rests on Vatican walls

And we are charmed by Raphael's

Winged angels.
